Vendorft s Note
The house is how centrally it is located to schools (two primary schools just across the road and further along the road), High Street supermarkets - Lidl a short walk away and Sainsbury’s and other well known High Street shops, a Post Office and a library in Hilldene shopping centre, all within walking distance. In addition there is a Community Centre, an Everyone Active Leisure Centre with a gym and swimming pool and two GP Surgeries. Harold Wood Station on the Elizabeth Line is within walking distance and in addition the TfL bus system is also very good (about seven different bus routes which serve a large area including Brentwood, Romford Town Centre and a night bus to and from Stratford). Whilst most families have a car these days and many people drive it is not unusual to see young mums on the buses with babies in prams or young children. So having these bus routes pointed out as close by are a plus.
About Harold Wood
Harold Wood is located in the Northeast of London, in the borough of Havering, and is around 40 minutes from London via train with good access to the major trunk roads of the A12 and M11.
Harold Wood is just over 16 miles from central London, a journey that will soon take just 41 minutes (into Bond Street), thanks to the new Elizabeth Line. Harold Wood is also well served by roads – it’s close to the A12, M11 and M25 – and bus services, and there are two nearby tube stations too.
The population is more than 12,650 and is well served by many schools rated 'Good' and 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.
There are many open spaces nearby making it an ideal location for families. Public transport and leisure facilities are also good.
The area was first recorded in the 13th Century as Horalds Wood, named after the famous King Harold who was defeated at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Harold held the manor of Havering-atte-Bower (Harold Wood is in the Borough of Havering). You’ll find some of the oldest roads in the area are named after Anglo-Saxon monarchs.
